CITY OF LAKE JACKSON: Impending Utility Work on Oleander Street

Job

City of Lake Jackson issued the following announcement.

ATTENTION: Residents, Police, Fire, EMS, School District, City Employees and all other users.

The first half of Oleander Street has been removed and replaced. The contractor is scheduling the removal of the remaining pavement and the removal of the drainage crossing between So. Yaupon and Maple Streets next week.

Temporary parking spaces are being installed on the even side of the street to accommodate the residents that will have their driveways removed along with the remaining street pavement. The contractor will notify the residents ahead of these driveway removals to give the residents ample time to relocate their vehicles. The overall process will be similar to the work done to replace the first half of Oleander.

The traffic pattern along Oleander Street will be reversed during this phase of construction. Traffic will flow from Oak Drive towards South Yaupon Street. All traffic will have to exit at South yaupon due to the street closure created by the drainage crossing replacement between Maple Street and South Yaupon Street.

The drainage crossing will require delivery of large box culverts. This will require twenty large trucks travelling through and temporarily stacking in the neighborhood. These deliveries are tentatively scheduled for August 26th and 27th weather permitting.

We provided detailed information of the construction at the public town meeting held in October 2018 and will provide the affected property owners or public in general with any information as needed through all our available communication media and by direct phone call to the engineering department at (979) 415-2413.

Expect, the periodic traffic disruptions and restricted access through the work zone.  Please observe the construction zone regulations of the directional and speed limit signs being erected and being enforced by our police department.

Please be considerate of your neighbor’s safety as well as your own as you share the street into and out of the work zone. Please make every effort to make plans for the use of alternate routes to your destinations.  We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconveniences these needed improvement changes may create for you.
