Cornyn visits Brazos Valley Food Banks as federal aid to region tops $124.6 million

Organizations in the Bryan-College Station have received a total of $124.6 million in federal aid.

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) visited Brazos Valley Food Bank, where he helped sort and pack food for families in the area. Theresa Mongapora, Brazos Valley Food Bank executive director, gave him a tour and briefed him on how the organization is responding to the coronavirus and increased demand of food. 

During a press conference held after his time at the food bank, Cornyn said Brazos Valley Food Banks has given 160,047 pounds of food to families in need and those affected by the coronavirus. 

Other local entities that have received aid from federal funds include: health care facilities, with $40 million; public transportation, with $8.8 million; local airports, with $1.4 million; local governments, with $13,732,087; colleges and universities in the area, with $54 million; public schools, with $6.6 million.
