BRAZOSPORT INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT: Brazoswood Senior Noah Hankinson Named National Merit Semifinalist

Award

Brazosport Independent School District issued the following announcement.

Congratulations to Brazoswood High School senior Noah Hankinson for being named a National Merit Semifinalist. In the spring, Noah will have the opportunity to continue in the competition for about 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million.

The NMSC competition began with about 1.6 million students from over 22,000 high schools across the nation. As a finalist, Noah ranks in the top 0.5% of students across the country.

“We are proud of Noah and wish him the very best in the next steps of this competition, and in all of his future endeavors,” said Principal Rita Pintavalle.

Noah is the son of Mike and Misty Hankinson. He is active in multiple areas on the Brazoswood campus and community. Noah has been involved with Science Olympiad, robotics and rockets and is currently the Lead Engineer for the Goddard level Rocketry Program. He is involved in Fine Arts as a violinist in the Symphonic and Philharmonic orchestras receiving superior ratings in UIL orchestra and a 1 in solo and ensemble. He was recognized as a Duke TIP Scholar and received Merit Awards in Geometry, Spanish and Chemistry along with being a member of the National Honor Society.

Noah is also highly involved outside of campus through his church youth group ministries, building wheelchair ramps, UMArmy, and assisting through the SPCA and Faith in Action. He enjoys Taekwondo demonstration teams with his second degree black belt status.

“This outstanding accomplishment speaks to the quality of education our students receive every day in our schools,” said Superintendent Danny Massey.
