Brazosport College issued the following announcement.
The Brazosport College and Community Band recently performed its first concert of the Fall semester for a large online audience, as well as a much smaller group of in-person viewers.
The performance was held at the College’s Shakespeare in the Glen outdoor theatre for a limited number of friends and family members, and was streamed live on The Clarion at Brazosport College’s YouTube page. An archived recording of the full performance is currently available for viewing on the page.
“It was a beautiful day of live music,” said Richard Birk, Brazosport College Director of Music. “The weather was spectacular and it was so nice for the band to be able to share our music with such an appreciative live audience.”
The band performed an hour of music that included a variety of arrangements from Johann Sebastian Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven to the well-known spiritual hymn, “Amazing Grace,” to music from “Star Wars.”
Birk conducted all but one piece, with retired band director and College and Community Band member Jerry Crummel taking the reins on an arrangement he personally wrote of “A Little Bach Suite.”
